Nightingale courts status interactive map

On 17 February 2023, the government announced it’s extending 24 Nightingale courtrooms for 2023, to help tackle backlogs and reduce waiting times.

‘Nightingale courts’ were launched in July 2022 as part of the government's court recovery plan, and to help the justice system recover from the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19).

We created an interactive map which shows the location of open Nightingale courts, as well as the type of work being heard in these venues and the number of court rooms at each site.

Nightingale courts will remain open in 2023 at 11 sites:

  • Birmingham, Maple House
  • Blackpool, former Fleetwood Magistrates’ Court
  • Croydon, Leonardo Hotel
  • former Chichester Crown Court
  • former Cirencester Magistrates’ Court
  • London, Barbican, Aldersgate House
  • London, Grand Connaught Rooms
  • Maidstone, Mercure Hotel
  • Swansea, Civic Centre
  • Telford Annex
  • Wolverhampton Park Hall Hotel
