Information obligations for service providers

This version has been archived

This practice note advises on the obligations for solicitors to provide clients with information on their services under the Provision of Services Regulations 2009 (as amended) over and above the Solicitors Regulation Authority's (SRA) regulatory requirements.

The SRA Standards and Regulations 2019 replaced the SRA Handbook (2011) from 25 November 2019.

This practice note is relevant to all law firms and sole practitioners authorised by the SRA, as well as individual solicitors, registered English lawyers (RELs) and registered foreign lawyers (RFLs) in private practice.

This practice note is the Law Society's view of good practice in this area, and is not legal advice. For more information, see the legal status.
