I found that mentoring assisted me in securing my training contract.
Both of my parents came to England from Jamaica from quite a humble background.
They were great role models and taught me to have a strong work ethic, but they had no connections with the legal profession.
After my degree, I was fortunate to be introduced to a black partner at a local firm who went on to become my mentor.
Through mentoring, I gained insight into the legal profession and I learnt how to market myself to law firms.
