Public affairs
The public affairs and campaigns team is at the heart of our work influencing government, parliament and key stakeholders in the UK.
We manage the Law Society’s relationship with government and parliament. We oversee our influencing work and engage with senior policy-makers on behalf of the solicitor profession.
By harnessing the collective knowledge, experience and expertise of the legal profession, we can lead in developing public policy solutions to challenges facing the legal services sector.
As the Law Society is a professional body governed by a royal charter, our work with government and parliament is underpinned by our duty to act in the public interest. We work closely with our members when engaging and influencing political stakeholders and policy-makers.
We lobby and influence in Whitehall and Westminster on the priority issues that affect the Law Society and our members.
We submit written and oral evidence to select committees, develop briefings ahead of parliamentary debates and meet with key stakeholders
We run the Law Society’s campaigns fighting for access to justice and promoting England and Wales as a global legal centre.
