Family Law Accreditation
The accreditation covers all types of family law work except public law Children Act work, which is covered by our Children Law Accreditation.
Eligibility
To apply for the Family Law Accreditation, you must be either a:
- solicitor
- chartered legal executive
You must be able to show that you have a high level of competence and knowledge in family law by having at least:
- 1,000 chargeable hours of general litigation experience in the last three years
- 350 chargeable hours of family law experience in the last five years
How to apply
To apply for accreditation, you’ll need to submit a detailed application.
The accreditation process takes around six to eight weeks.
It can take longer if we receive high volumes of applications or if you do not give us all the information we need.
Re-accreditation
Membership of the accreditation lasts for five years.
You can apply to be re-accredited up to three months before your accreditation expires.

Cost
You’ll need to pay an application fee to be accredited.
We’ll send you an invoice when we receive your application.
Application fees are not-refundable.
