Turkey has the 19th largest economy in the world, with an estimated GDP (gross domestic product) of $906 billion dollars.
By 2041, Turkey is projected to become the 12th largest economy in the world.
Manufacturing accounts for roughly 84% of total production in Turkey. However, economic growth is also driven by thriving technology, transport, infrastructure and defence sectors.
Turkey’s exports totalled $234 billion in 2021, whereas imports reached $245 billion over this period.
The UK is one of Turkey’s main trading partners. In the four quarters to the end of Q2 2023, bilateral trade between the UK and Turkey reached £26.2 billion, an increase of 17.3% (£3.9 billion) compared to the previous year.
