Join a roundtable on civil legal aid reform
We are working with the Ministry of Justice to organise discussion groups so legal aid practitioners can feed in directly to the civil servants carrying out its review on civil legal aid.
This is your opportunity to speak directly to the Ministry of Justice about what is going wrong in our civil legal aid system, and which reforms could make a difference.
How the roundtables will work
The roundtables will take place between Monday 29 January and Friday 9 February 2024.
There will be six sessions based on geographical areas:
- South East and London (29 January)
- South West (30 January)
- North West and West Midlands (31 January)
- North East and Yorkshire (5 February)
- East Midlands and East of England (6 February)
- Wales (8 February)
The roundtables will be run online, from 4pm to 5.30pm.
Areas for discussion will include:
- how civil legal aid works in your local area
- remuneration and fee structures
- career development and diversity of the profession
- user needs, including accessing legal aid and awareness of legal aid
