The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is a global professional body for surveyors. It promotes and enforces international standards in the valuation, management and development of:
- land
- real estate
- construction
- infrastructure
RICS promotes best practice through its guidance, which includes codes for conveyancing and leasing commercial property.
New RICS code for Leasing Business Premises 2020
We’ve worked with RICS in pan-industry discussion with representatives of landlords, tenants and other professional bodies to develop a code for leasing business premises (1st edition).
The code was published in February 2020.
Service Charges in Commercial Property
On 1 April 2019, the RICS Professional Statement on service charges in commercial property replaced the third edition of RICS Service Charge Code.
It provides best practice guidance for managing and administering service charges for commercial property. It also sets out mandatory requirements for RICS members.
