Your third-year checklist
Third-year students can still apply for vacation placements and training positions. You should focus on activities to strengthen your applications for the next round of recruitment.
Our top tips
1. Apply for training positions if you are considering smaller or high street firms, or organisations, as they recruit trainees as and when they’re needed
2. Be mindful that the SQE allows flexibility in how you gain the two years qualifying work experience.
If you are in the position, you can self-fund your studies and gain the required work experience at a maximum of four separate organisations including:
- firms
- legal clinics in academic institutions
- law centres
- other appropriate organisations
3. Consider applying for paralegal positions as a way of undertaking qualifying work experience for paralegals
4. If you are self-funding the SQE, explore a list of SQE providers to find the best course for you
